There is an account in the bible where the Lord sent angel Gabriel to give Zacharias and Mary a message. From the account both Zacharias and Mary asked the angel a question however; and each got a different response. The Lord does not mind us asking the right questions. In this account; Mary asked a fair question as she had never known a man and it had never been heard before so Marys question was genuine. The angel answered her question and even went on to tell her about her cousin Elizabeth to encourage her. The angel concluded by telling Mary that with God nothing is impossible.

What is a storm? I would define a storm as an unexpected interruption to the flow of things. This is particularly evident at sea. The boat is sailing nicely and all of a sudden a storm arises that threatens the safety of the boat and in some cases the life of those on board. We all go through storms in life. There are many reasons storms come along in life. Let’s have a look at scripture of some examples of storms and what happened at the end . In the book of Corinthians we see Paul present the Lord table. Let’s have a look from scripture: 1 Corinthians 11; 23- 26 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. This post was birthed from an online sermon l joined a number of weeks ago by Pastor Mike White. A ship is designated for movement. In the natural, every ship you board will take you somewhere depending on the destination of the ship. Many of us are aware of the account of Jonah in the scriptures. The Lord told Jonah to go to Nineveh, however Jonah decided to board a ship and go to Tarshish far away from where the Lord had instructed him to go. The children of Israel got to the Red Sea and had nowhere else to go. They felt trapped as the Egyptians had been pursuing them. If God did not show up that was it. Water was in front of them; a humanly impossible situation. They had come to the end of themselves; there was nothing they could do but cry unto the Lord. A name identifies a thing or a person. They are words of which a person or thing is called. Bearing in mind that what we say is important and what we identify with is important; could this have an impact on what our names are? We all know that God always has a purpose of doing something. Could there be a reason why the Lord changed Abram’s name to Abraham?
Whether you realise it or not, as a Christian you are a soldier of Christ. The bible calls us soldiers of Jesus Christ (2 Timothy 2; 3-4). A soldier represents another country and defends and fights for it. Soldiers don’t live for themselves. If you look through scripture, many verses confirm and have the characteristics of a life of a soldier. There is an account in the book of Exodus that most of us are familiar with. Moses went up to the mount to meet with God. After a while, the people got impatient and decided to make idols and worship them. Why? Because Moses had delayed from coming down from the mount. What is interesting about this account is that, the Lord had told Moses what the people were doing before he came down to the camp. The Lord told Moses to get down quickly for the people have turned out of the way. Moses then prayed for the people before leaving the mount with Joshua. |
