In life it is important to know how to make a decision. To make a right decision takes the leading of the Lord, good counsel and a good understanding of the Word. This article is not about informing us about how to make a good decision, but how to keep the decision we make. It is hoped that the decision we make is the right one. Lets look at a scripture to get some principles on how to standby by your decision:
1 Corinthians 7: 35 - 37 35 And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction. 36 But if any man think that he behaveth himself uncomely toward his virgin, if she pass the flower of her age, and need so require, let him do what he will, he sinneth not: let them marry. 37 Nevertheless he that standeth stedfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will, and hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, doeth well. Paul is telling us how a man can stay single if the person chooses to. While this is not the topic, the principles of standing by a decision can be explored. Lets look at the action points: Stand steadfast in your heart: Power over your own will; Decreed in your heart; Once the above is established and above all with the help of the Lord, the decision you make will stand. So are you planning of spending more time in the Word of God? Or in prayer? Ask for grace and help and put the above in place. Stand steadfast in your heart that you will spend more time with the Lord. Have power over your own will which will be needed to resist all the distractions and side tracks. Decree in your heart that by Gods help and grace it will be done. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. With His help and us playing our part, decisions necessary to make process in any area of life can be kept. Bisi Oladipupo

Those are good, practical points drawn from the verse. Sometimes, making a decision is hard but keeping it is even harder.

I like the verse you brought in to our holding to our decisions by standing fast. I like that and will think on that this week as I hold true to my word! Thanks, Bisi. Blessings, Amy
