Imagine having an object in its original state functioning the way it is supposed to. However as time goes on, you decide to place it next to a never ending burning candle which produces wax. As time goes on you can hardly recognise the object as it has been covered with wax. The only way to get the object back to its original purpose is to melt the wax. This analogy is figurative. Matthew 13: 15 states:
For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them The above scripture talks about the heart waxing gross. The amplified version of the bible says “For this nation’s heart has grown gross (fat and dull),”. Wax by its nature can be gradual; it can cover items or harden things. In other words, to restore an affected item the wax has to be removed. The heart is the core of life. The bible says in the book of proverbs “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. I think it is safe to say, guard your heart from waxing hard! As we pass through life and negative circumstances, if care is not taken, it can start affecting the heart. Only an individual knows the true state of their heart. Was prayer a joy before, but now a struggle? Did you allow the love of God to flow freely before, but now after several bruises in life and even amongst brethren, you are a bit more reserved? Has a prolonged difficult situation affected your heart? Its time to remove the wax. God does not change. His word remains the same, circumstances of life may change, but God remains the same. The Lord is waiting for you to be quick to believe again, quick to forgive, ever ready to walk in love. The list goes on. To do this, we must remove the wax! So how do we remove the wax? Just as natural wax can be removed by fire or a hammer, the word of God, spending time in His presence, worshipping and mediating on the Word will remove the wax from our hearts. It will melt the wax away! Jeremiah 23: 29 Is not my word like as a fire? saith the Lord; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? The Word of God will break wax! Micah 1: 3-4 For, behold, the Lord cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth. 4 And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place. Psalm 97: 5 The hills melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth. The presence of God will melt away wax! Do you feel hardened in some areas? Then its time to melt away the wax. You cannot do it yourself, you need to subject the heart to the right environment to do the job. The presence of God, His word, Worship, mediating on His word. If you are feeling dry, dull, hard in some areas, make a decision that you want to change, pray and ask for help and grace, and then begin to expose the heart to what will get it back to its proper functioning state. God has great plans for you. Its time to melt the wax! Our hearts need to be sound, and sound means healthy. We must make a conscious effort to melt away anything in our hearts that is not of God. I love this analogy, especially as in these days the Lord has been showing me my heart and revealing to me the things I am trusting in other than Him! Praising God for removing the wax for sure! Appreciate your words of truth and wisdom! Blessings!

My wife worked in a CANDLE FACTORY years ago. I heard tales of working with melted wax, molding it, coloring it, shaping it to perfection. If the WAX wasn't kept hot, the candle moulds wouldn,t receive it. Maybe a poor analogy, but the image of God keeping the wax pliable and hot by His Word came to mind after reading your blog. Thank you for your words.

Good analogy. It's important to always give due attention to our heart. If not, the process of our heart waxing gross can be subtle and slip below our spiritual radar.
