Recently l was watching an athletics event at a stadium. As l had quite a bit of free time, l decided to delete unwanted items on my phone. To my surprise, not only did l find images of things that l had intentionally downloaded, l also found images the l did not intentionally download. While pondering on this and going through pictures, l realised that most of the images l had seen them, l just did not intentionally download and save them. So what happened? It then dawned on me that, the moment you open an image, picture, video from a friend either from facebook, whatsapp etc, from whatever application the phone automatically saves it unto the phone. That did explain all the pictures on my phone.
As l began to think on this, a thought flashed “ and that’s how you get images, pictures and memories in your mind”. Have you ever had a dream at night and realised it came from something you watched during the day or a while ago? That’s why we must be very careful what we watch, dwell on and think about. All these things get registered in our minds. In other words, whatever you watch or think about, you are automatically downloading the memory of it into your mind. If this process goes on long enough, it begins to shape and mould so, for “as a man thinkeht in his heart, so is he”. So what are you downloading into the memory banks of your mind? Soap Tv shows? What are you dwelling on and allowing to accumulate in your mind? Whatever you look at, ponder on, your are automatically downloading it. Just as we need to discipline our bodies, we must be disciplined in what we think about. The bible gives us clear instructions on what to download. There is a reason the bible says “Flee all appearance e of evil! 1 Thessalonians 5: 22. If something unhealthy shows up on the TV, just change the channel if it appears evil. You are downloading into your mind what you dwell and think upon. The bible gives us clear instructions as to what to download “ Philippians 4: 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. If you have pictures or images that you don’t want downloaded already, thank God we have a delete and compliance button “ 2 Corinthians 10: 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; Let this be our prayer and pursuit Psalm 19: 14“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer. I love this post- it is so true! This is why we not only must be careful about what we put into our mind, but must be continually renewing our mind as well. It may not seem like much when these things are happening or when we're watching a simple TV show, but they embed themselves deep into our consciousness and can change so much about what we think, dream, or feel!

I just did a blog post on the Mind for this week. WOW -- isn't that the truth. I home school and my boys are teenagers. In this day and time I am constantly singing this tune to them. Guard your eyes, your ears, etc. It's so very important -- especially for young men.

Thanks for sharing a beautiful post about the correct way to focus our thoughts on God, Christ and the Truth. Learning to place God first starts with the mind and by exerting ourselves in reading and meditating on the Lord allows our minds to absorb the spiritual nourishment needed in receiving God's grace.
