Challenging relationships is nothing new. There is a reason why the Bible tells us to forebear one another; “Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye” (Colossians 3: 13) KJV “Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others” (Colossians 3: 13) NLT The early Apostles had differences: Do you remember the sharp contention between Paul and Barnabas? The Bible tells us that the contention was so sharp that on that specific matter they went separate ways. “ After some time Paul said to Barnabas, “Let’s go back and visit each city where we previously preached the word of the Lord, to see how the new believers are doing.” 37 Barnabas agreed and wanted to take along John Mark. 38 But Paul disagreed strongly, since John Mark had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not continued with them in their work. 39 Their disagreement was so sharp that they separated. Barnabas took John Mark with him and sailed for Cyprus” (Acts 15: 36- 39). NLT We can also see in another account in the Book of Philippians where Paul is requesting two brethren to have the same mind. Paul must have cited their names specifically for a purpose. “ I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord” (Philippians 4: 2) . KJV “Now I appeal to Euodia and Syntyche. Please, because you belong to the Lord, settle your disagreement” (Philippians 4: 2) NLT This statement gives the impression that there must have been some sort of disunity or differences between Euodia and Syntyche. Yes, we are all Christians but it does not mean that it will be easy to get along with others due to a wide variety of reasons. It is important to be skillful in the area of relationships and walk in love. Would you like more practical information on this matter?
