After all is said and done. Did you realise that there will be a new heaven and a new earth? Matthew 24; 35 “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away”. This is why as believers we need to focus on things of eternal value. We have other scriptures that remind of us this reality: 2 Peter 3; 10 – 13 “ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. Verse 11 sums it all up, while verse 13 confirms that there will be new heavens and a new earth and verse 14 tells us to be diligent. The bible is very specific about new heavens and a new earth. Let’s look at some other scriptures: Isaiah 65; 17 “ For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. Revelation 21;1 “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea”. So this earth will pass away, and we will have a new earth and new heavens where dwelleth righteousness. If you are a believer it helps to put things into perspective. However, if you do not know the Lord yet, the Lord loves you and really you want to live with the Lord forever. Now is the time to make that decision for Christ. Romans 10; 9- 10 says “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. It is that simple. Ask the Lord to come into your life. Here is a simple prayer you can say “Father l come to you in Jesus name. I admit that l am not in right standing with you. I ask you to forgive me of all my sins. The bible says “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved”. I believe with my heart and l confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and Saviour of my life”. Now, help me to live for you the rest of this life in Jesus name. Thank you Lord for saving me. If you said this prayer for the first time begin to read your bible and ask the Lord to guide you to a good church. You can also contact me via this page. If you are already a Christian, let us set our affection on things above as all we see everything we see today will one day pass away. 2 Corinthians 4; 18 “While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal”. © 8th June 2020 by Bisi Oladipupo

Bisi, you are so right. We are to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world, but this place is not our home. We must set our affection on things above. We look forward to a new earth where righteousness will reign.
