![]() Our God is a merciful God and the Lord delights in mercy: “Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy”( Micah 7:18). Thy mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds (Psalms 35:5). “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us “ (Ephesians 2:4). So we can see that our God is a merciful God. Now that we know our Lord is merciful, how do we access His mercy? ![]() Humility is the gateway to the mercy of God. Admitting we have done wrong and asking Him to forgive us will allow His mercy to speak for us. The Lord knows that we fail and so He has already made provision for us, all we need to do is ask. “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy” (Proverbs 28: 13). Have you done something wrong? Then stop beating up yourself, just turn in yourself to the Lord, repent and ask the Lord to forgive you. He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Looking at the Old Testament we can see examples of those that humbled themselves and obtained mercy. One of them is Ahab the wicked king. “And the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son's days will I bring the evil upon his house (1 Kings” (1 Kings 21; 28- 29). “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7: 14). The Lord loves us so much that He has asked us to come boldly unto the throne of grace to obtain mercy. “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4: 16). The humble get grace and mercy. Bisi Oladipupo © 13th October 2021

Bisi, I am so glad that the Lord delights in mercy. Being fallible, we often need His mercy. But we must be merciful to others as well. For Jesus said the merciful will obtain mercy (Matthew 5:7).
