Hang in There Just a Little Longer!

​In the book of Exodus we have the account where Moses went up to mount Sinai  twice to receive instructions  and the ten commandments from God. He was in the mount for 40 days and 40 nights (Exodus 24; 18) on both occasions (Exodus 34; 28).

The first account can be found from (Exodus 24; 18 to 31; 18) and (Exodus 32 ).

​What is very interesting about the first account it that, Moses had already finished his assignment in mount Sinai before the children of Israel decided to build for themselves gods of gold.
Exodus 31; 18 reads “And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God”.  
 
Exodus 32; 1 - 8
And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.
2 And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me.
3 And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron.
 And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
5 And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the Lord.
6 And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.
7 And the Lord said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves:
8 They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

Exodus 32; 15
 And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.
 
From this account one can see that Moses had already finished in the mount. Exodus 31; 18 clearly states it “And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God”.  

So why did the children of Israel sin? Because they did not hang in there just a little longer. Moses had already finished in the Mount and it can be assumed that he would have been down soon, if only they waited. What is also interesting is that Moses spent the exact same time 40 days and 40 nights in the mount when he went up for a replacement. This is evident that Moses had already finished his assignment the first time.

So what are you waiting for? God is always faithful and never late. If God said it, He will do it. Don’t make alternatives.  Just wait, hang in there a little longer, and you will see the expected end.
