It’s amazing how many spiritual truths we can learn from life. I am sure many of us have heard the Lord teach us things from events during our daily activity. The centurion who was commended for his great faith learn't the principle of authority from his own job. Matthew 8 9- 10 “For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. 10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel This shows us that we can learn great spiritual truths from everyday life. Now let’s have a look at this scripture: Proverbs 6; 6-10 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man. The scriptures say that we should consider the ways of an ant. So what can we learn from an ant? The ant has nobody to tell her what to do. No guide – Nobody to guide the way, to lead, or show No overseer – Nobody to supervise what is going on. No ruler - No boss, nobody in charge The ant also knows times and seasons. There is a time for everything. The ant provides her food in the summer and gathers in harvest. The ant does not attempt to do things out of season despite she has nobody to tell her what to do. The reality of this is that this is how many lives are. Once you are out of your parents or schooling years, nobody will guide you, nobody will oversee you and nobody will rule over you. As the ant takes initiative, so should we. We do want needs to be done, in whatever area of life. If nobody encourages you, then you will need to encourage yourself. Not many people have the privilege of being mentored. That’s the honest truth. The great majority of people have to apply themselves to whatever they need to do by themselves. Thank God that the Lord has placed gifting’s and callings in the body of Christ. These are to equip us for the work of the ministry. We still have a responsibility to yield to the ministries or help the Lord brings our way. We all have a God ordained purpose. Only you (by the help of the Lord ) can make the necessary adjustments and move in the right direction. Remember that the ant has no guide, no social media to remind it what it needs to do. The bible calls this wisdom. Leaving things undone equally has results which nobody desires.
“ To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven (Eccl 3;1)”. Lets learn from the ant which has nobody to push or guide it, yet does what is necessary at each season. The Lord’s grace is available and sufficient for us. © Bisi Oladipupo 23rd May 2020

Bisi, I love the practical message in the verses from the book of Proverbs that you used. God uses it to speak to lazy people. The ant is not compelled by anyone to get up and make provision for itself. It does so because if it doesn't, it will go hungry. The sluggard needs to learn this lesson from the ant.
