Have some things been trying to take your attention away from what you need to focus on? Did you know that we can learn from one of the attributes of a frog? Frogs ear glands are sensitive only to the frequencies of sounds they need to survive (from google). What an interesting concept. Is there a reason why the bible says “Take heed to what you hear?” (Luke 8: 18; Mark 4: 24). Figuratively to be deaf to something is to refuse to pay attention to it. Sometimes this is necessary in life and especially in our Christian walk. In the book of Psalms, chapter 38 we can see David apply this concept. Psalms 38: 12- 15 “ They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long. But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth. Thus I was as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs”. This was David’s response. David made a decision to refuse to listen to his enemies. What has the Lord called you to do? What dream has the Lord put into your heart? Are they those saying the opposite? Then perhaps it is time to be as a man that hears not. Refuse to pay attention to that negative report. Remember we must be careful what we hear. Sometimes the solution is to be a man that hears not. Refuse to pay attention to anything contrary to God’s will. Bisi Oladipupo © Copyright 7th Dec 2021

Bisi; that is a good discipline to develop. At any given time, many voices are speaking to us. 'to succeed in our goals, we must be discerning and turn a deaf ear to those voices we need to ignore.
