Let’s assume you lived in a country where they had kings and queens and the king of the land gave you a gift. Would you appreciate it? Yes and again yes. As a matter of fact, you will be showing everyone you had an opportunity to, to let them know that the king gave you a gift. Unfortunately because we live in a fallen world, we do not see ourselves the way Gods sees us. These things ought not to be so.
God’s word and what He says about us is the truth. The truth is not subject to opinion, or someone’s wrong perceptions. The truth is the truth. The bible says in Romans 3;4 “let God be true and everyman a liar”. In the book of 2 Timothy 1, Paul starts by introducing himself as “an apostle of God by the will of God”, then he continues on to speak to Timothy in verse 5. Let’s look at a few verses in this letter: 2 Timothy 1; 5-7 “When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also. 6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind”. What are the scriptures saying here “ Stir up the gift in you”. In this particular case it was given by “laying on of hands” however stirring up the gift in us is applicable to all otherwise our gifts will lay dormant. Verse 6 continues and reads “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind”. In content, this verse refers to the gift in us. The word “fear” in the greek actually means “timidity”. In other words, we are not to be “timid” about what gifts the Lord has given us. We must remember that they are not “our” gifts, but God has entrusted in us gifts to use for His service. So what gift has the lord given to you that you are reluctant to exercise? The world around you is waiting for you. Symptoms of being timid about our gifting’s include: “What will people say, who will receive it, I am not sure etc. God does not want us to be timid about the gifts He has given us. So let’s acknowledge what the Lord has invested in us, stir it up in whatever way we know how by His help. Let’s then be good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Someone is waiting to be blessed by your gift. Bisi Oladipupo

This post speaks to a lot of today's believers. In the average local church, there is much untapped potential. Oftentimes, God has gifted people in the church to do what is needed in the very local church they belong to, but they opt not to get involved.
