The Privilege of Being Set Apart for the Lord!

​In the book of Exodus  the Lord told Moses to instruct the children of Israel to kill a lamb and put the blood on the doorpost so the destroyer would not come in.  It was to ensure that the firstborn of the children of Israel were protected, Exodus 12; 13 “And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt”.

 There is further information in the book of Numbers, why the first born of the children of Israel were preserved; “ Because all the firstborn are mine; for on the day that I smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I hallowed unto me all the firstborn in Israel, both man and beast: mine shall they be: I am the Lord" Numbers 3; 13. The Lord set apart the first born of the children of Israel “mine shall they be” this is why they were protected. They were protected because they were set apart for the Lord.

So in addition to them applying the blood, they were not smitten because the Lord set them apart “mine they shall be” and they were protected; both men and beast.

Today the bible makes it clear that we are set apart for the Lord.

1 Peter 2; 9 “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

John 17; 17 “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth”.

The truth is:

• We are a chosen generation
  
• A royal priesthood
  
• A peculiar people
  
• And set apart by the truth

What a privilege! 

So as you go about your daily activities expect the privileges that belong to those that are “set apart” for the Lord!. 

​Expect  what is looks like to be chosen, royal, peculiar and set apart for the Lord.
