The children of Israel got to the Red Sea and had nowhere else to go. They felt trapped as the Egyptians had been pursuing them. If God did not show up that was it. Water was in front of them; a humanly impossible situation. They had come to the end of themselves; there was nothing they could do but cry unto the Lord. Nehemiah 9; 7; reads "Thou art the Lord the God, who didst choose Abram, and broughtest him forth out of Ur of the Chaldees, and gavest him the name of Abraham; And foundest his heart faithful before thee, and madest a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Jebusites, and the Girgashites, to give it, I say, to his seed, and hast performed thy words; for thou art righteous: And didst see the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heardest their cry by the Red sea"; The good news is that the Lord is never caught unawares, and if Israel did its sum properly, they should have known that God will never abandon them at the Red Sea. If it means that God will part the Red Sea, something that has never happened before, that no man can do, so be it. Why would our God promise Abraham that the Children of Israel will be in bondage in another land for 400 years and then not bring them out (Acts 7; 6-7)? Would the Lord bring them out and abandon them at the Red sea? No a thousand times no. Why would our God that did all the mighty works in the land of Egypt , mighty miracles to deliver the children of Israel now abandon them at the Red Sea? No of course not. When our Lord led them by the way of the Red Sea, our faithful God was well aware that they had to cross the Red Sea. So what does your own Red Sea look like? A brick wall, closed door, impossible with man but not with God? Be rest assured that God will show up. Just as our faithful God showed up for the children of Israel. Ask the Lord for direction and take those steps of faith that the Lord is leading you to take. You will see the Red Sea part. The Lord heard the cry of the children of Israel at the Red Sea and will hear your prayer and deliver you. Bisi Oladipupo

I was at my own Red Sea at least a couple of times. Once, I had an invitation of a place to stay in a state in need of people in my profession but no money to get there and no money to stay where I was. Then I lost my job with no new offers to replace it after months of applying. Each time, God has parted the sea so that I could cross safely to where I am called to be. Thank you for this reminder as I am in the middle of crossing and it has encouraged me in my faith walk.

Nice post. No matter what our "Red Sea" might be, God's hands are never tied by our circumstances.

Indeed, we will all have to face a read see at some point in our lives. That is where God tests our faith and trust in Him. We can easily travel a desert when along the way we find oasis (family, friends, publications) that refresh us and help keep us going, but when we are at the end of the journey with just a vast deep ocean before us that is when we have no choice but to cry out and depend on God's faithfulness. Thank you, Bisi, for shining the light of His word to the world!
